Kidney Problems Persist

We went and had an ultra sound done on Monday--Tyler still has Pyelectasis aka Renal Pelvic Dialation. I am trying my hardest not to worry because I know Heavenly Father is in charge of the situation. Plus, whatever happens, I'm sure he will turn out fine even if it means I have to cry through a surgery. The pediatrician referred us to a urologist who will first do what's called a Children's Pediatric Voiding Cystourethrogram. It's an Xray procedure where Tyler will probably have to be sedated, have a catheter put in his urethra and then they will monitor him while he empties his bladder. After that we will know if he needs surgery or not. I'll keep you all posted. In the meantime here are some more cute pictures where you can really see how much Tyler has grown if you compare them to the pictures in my earlier posts. He is well over 6lbs now and 2 weeks old tomorrow! PS I lost 23 lbs so far.

One week old

I figure it's time to update you with some more pix of Tyler! We've had a quick week--time is flying by. Tyler got jaundice and has been on bili lights all week. The bili lights are in a little bed with a onesie attached and we threw a bunch of blankets on top of him. Here is a pic of the bili bed: He's doing much better now and they took him off the lights last night to see how he does. He's been eating and sleeping really well. He's already up to 6lbs, 1.5oz! He's gaining weight like crazy. He's already lifting his head up on his own and looking around at the world. We're pretty sure he is a genius child. :) Here are a few more pix of his cute little face:

Introducing... Tyler Thomas Miles!

After 27 hours of intense labor we brought Tyler Thomas Miles into the world at 4:00pm on Friday, February 13th, 2009. He weighed in at just 5lbs 6 ounces and measured 19 inches long. Tyler was born 3 and a half weeks early but he is healthy, happy and doing excellently. We are very blessed to have this beautiful bundle of joy! I was induced after 9 days of bed rest on Thursday, February 12th at 1:00pm due to pregnancy complications from pre-eclampsia. I had the epidural from heck and my contractions were very difficult. They were 2 minutes apart for about 8 hours and I was only dilated to a one until Friday morning around 8:00am. Once I was dilated to a three and holding, Erik gave me a priesthood blessing and within two hours I was at a 10 and ready to start pushing. Up until that point I had to be "revived" a couple of times when my blood pressure dropped to 60/30 from 125/90 and I wasn't breathing very well. I pushed about 5 times once I was dilated to a 10 and out h...

Update

Hi everyone! I'm back home in bed for what seems like the millionth day in a row. I am all of a sudden very grateful for my Serta memory foam mattress. Hospital beds are the pits. The doctor sent me home this morning because they don't want to induce me for another week or so, unless I go into labor on my own of course. But I am having signs of pre-labor left and right, so I am really hoping I might go into labor soon. I still have pre-eclampsia though so I am not allowed to do anything outside of the bed except use the restroom. I am very grateful to all of you who have reached out to me--the list is too long to mention by now. I appreciate the love and attention you have all given me, it's so amazing to have such wonderful friends who are so predisposed to giving service. You are all exemplary LDS women and I look up to you all! My mom is going home this evening, so Erik is in charge now. My mom cooked several things for the freezer and Erik is going to handle brea...

From Bed Rest to Hospital Rest...Good Times.

I am writing this from the oh-so-comfortable cot they call a bed in the maternity ward at St. Francis Hospital. My symptoms got worse so I called the doctor and she told me to go to the hospital. I checked in at 9:00pm, the ran some tests and told me I have to stay until at least Tuesday whether I go into labor or not. The doctor came and checked me, I'm dilated to a whopping 1 cm. I still have pre eclampsia though and they are going to induce me if I don't start labor in the next week or less. After tomorrow I should know more, like a date they won't let me go past. Either way, Tyler will be born this week! Yay! I have a migraine like nobody's business and the nurse has an attitude problem. And of course I have THE worst cold I have EVER had so I can't breathe and my throat hurts way bad. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, my friends! As uncomfortable as this hospital bed is, the doctor assured me I did the right thing coming in and I will have th...

My Sweet Friends/Boring Week

What a boring week! I have spent 4 days in bed so far in a row and I am already going stir crazy! But lucky me, Alyssa dropped off fun magazines to read and pizza and lasagna for the freezer, plus nail polish (even though I can't reach my swollen feet). Then today, Stephanie dropped off a fun book of puzzles and a hang man video game! That was just the thing to exercise my brain today. It was so sweet of her to think of me like that. And a shout out to Analisa for dropping off cupcakes and Amish Friendship bread even though it was last week--I'm still dreaming of those delicious cupcakes. And thanks to Karen for all the cool baby clothes. Thank you to all of you for reaching out to me through email, blog comments, texts and phone calls--Heather, Valerie, Jaime, Ashley, Alyssa, Analisa --I'm probably forgetting someone...you are all so sweet. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends. Before I lived in Washington, I never dreamed I would have so many friend...

Baby Shower

On Saturday, Jaime and Ashley threw me a GREAT baby shower. Everyone said it was the best baby shower they had ever been to!! All my beautiful friends came and we had a blast! Jaime made me a beautiful (and very tasty) cake: Romi did a really fun game which ended with me getting a TON of awesome presents! I was so swollen that everyone started to get worried--no wonder! I looked like a blimp! Here is a picture of me playing a really fun game Jaime came up where you guess which baby goes with which mom. We learned lots of things like what a whelp is and what a baby mosquito is called. I got them all wrong so don't ask me. Come to find out, I have pre eclampsia. I am on bed rest until the baby is born--and they want to induce him early. I will know more soon so I'll keep you all posted!
