My poor mom-- I sent her to read my blog yesterday so she could see pix of the ultrasound. She'd never seen my blog before, so she read most of it. And of course, in all my haste I've never once posted anything about her. It's not because I don't love her, quite the opposite in fact. I'm just always focused on whatever it is I want to write about, that I fail to mention some of the most important people in my life.
Well I want you to know, my mom is an incredible woman. No, really. She is the most intelligent person I've ever met. She speaks like she majored in English and can do math like a wiz. She's an excellent attorney--always giving me free legal advice and helping me clean up any potential litigious actions I get myself into ;). She's gorgeous, always has been. She's always had the guys falling all over themselves for her. She has a testimony of the Gospel and she's very strong willed. She's the best interior decorator I've ever seen, too. You should see her house. And she has an eye for antiques like you wouldn't believe.
She's also a great mom. She's always given my sister and me everything we need and anything we want--within reason. She's never once denied us, in fact, I get random mysterious packages all the time; Little (however extravagant) gifts from Mom.
She's also going to be a wonderful Grandma. She already bought a ton of baby clothes and she's very excited. She's even making quilts and blankets. You should see how much thought she puts into the fabric. I think she's gone to the fabric store 10 times already. Ok maybe 5, but seriously.
She also instilled in me a great love of reading. She loves to read and we love the same books which makes things really fun. She can also finish a crossword puzzle faster than most people can tie their shoes.
My mom made me who I am today. She's the reason I know how to write, read, and speak properly. She's why I understand politics and why I'm an open-minded person. She's the reason I've been to Mexico and why I'm good at sports. She's the one who always sat through my swimming lessons, gymnastics, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, orchestra, band and piano lessons. She never did anything for herself when I was a kid. Every day was devoted to my sister and me. She gave me everything. She still does. And I hope she can forgive me for forgetting to write about her.
I always think about her and I always pray I can be anything close to the self-sacrificing, talented, gorgeous mom she is to me.
