New Calling

I was called today to be a counselor in the Primary presidency in our new ward. I was surprised because the Bishop and the Primary president hadn't even met me yet--Scary!

So today was my first day in Primary. At first I thought it was going to be super easy-- just sing some songs and play with little kids. But after chasing a 4-year-old around the room in my high heels and then chasing her down the hall and trying to coax her out of a locked bathroom stall, begging a bunch of 5-year-olds to put their shoes on and making really complicated finger puppets of Joseph Smith without any instructions I realized it's going to be no vacation!

Don't get me wrong, I am excited. Little kids are so much fun and the Primary in my ward has the cutest little kids! I just feel totally like I have no idea what I'm doing. And apparently we have meetings once a week on top of all the activities to plan and execute. I am looking forward to this calling but part of me feels totally overwhelmed! I'm sure it's the same for anyone when they have any new calling. At least I'll get to be with Tyler when he starts nursery (which is part of primary) in 4 months! That's a huge blessing.

Also, I was invited to Girl's Night last night in my new ward. We have such cool ladies! We had a pajama party and it was actually really fun. It made me miss everyone from NE Tacoma but it was super fun. We played a couple games and acted like teenagers--some of them even stayed until 3:30am! (I went home at midnight). I loved getting to know everyone and it turns out our ward has really great girls around my age, there were like 15 of them. I'm even going jogging with Christina three days a week at 6am starting tomorrow and Liz is going to run 10 miles with me on Saturday. Yay! (By the way I ran 8 miles yesterday all by myself and I actually enjoyed it. It was really hard but I'm not even sore today!)

So there's your update!

Congratulations. I was the Primary President a long time ago and that is my favorite calling so far. You will be great with the children and love it; even if it is hard work!

And, great job running! Remember when you said you couldn't run a mile and we made you? You've come a long way.

I'm getting business cards with a headshot on them... which one do you like better for a professional business card?

HIJACK

This post is not coming to you VIA Jennifer. This is her husband, Erik. I decided to hijack her blog (ah...the things you can do when in possession of another's password) and tell her how I feel about her. This will probably not be posted for long, I am sure as soon as she sees it she will remove it. HERE GOES! Jennifer, my dear, I love you oh so very much. On Monday is our 1 year anniversary! A whole year! That may not seem like much, but my oh my it has flown by quickly. Since you are a relative young'un that year actually represents around 4.76% of your entire lifespan(thus far). I still keep my eye out for things that represent 'US'. Who can forget the 'EJ' Truck? I have never stopped looking for, nor noting 28s as they pop up all over the place. I notice all of the little things you do. I notice the little faces you make. I notice the little noises you make. I notice the slight shifting of your posture in response to my incessant joking. This face was made...

One Month Old

Tyler turned one month old on Friday! He has grown and changed a lot just in the last couple of weeks. It is so much fun to watch him now that he is smiling and holding his head all the way up and clasping his hands together--interlaced as if in prayer. He is the cutest baby (ok, so I'm biased). We've had a hard week though (make that almost two weeks--I've been trying to publish this post for 5 days). The other day he screamed for almost 24 hours straight. Luckily Jaime came over to show me how to help relieve his gas and he calmed down for a couple of hours. He has been up all night, up all day and just kind of hard to deal with. Of course I still love him, which is weird. Usually its hard to love someone who deprives you of sleep. :) Update: Like I said, I have been trying to publish this for almost a week--I have had literally no time between work and a screaming baby and laundry and dishes and cooking and cleaning but alas I think I now have 5 minutes! Anyway, Ty...
